Every year, Saint Nicholas School raises thousands of pounds for charity. Whole-school charity events take place throughout the year. These include non-uniform days, which are usually held once a term, in aid of varying good causes. Students donate £1 to charity for the privilege of coming to school in casual clothes, or dressing in a themed outfit related to the charity, for instance, Jeans for Genes or Red Nose Day.
I am organising a fundraising event on the afternoon of Friday 22nd January in Mountbatten Hall in aid of disaster relief for the earthquake in Haiti. The idea is to have a book sale for infants and juniors, and a cake stall and unwanted Christmas gift stall for all pupils and parents.
YOU CAN HELP IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
• by collecting your infant child at 3.10pm from class and bringing them over to buy books and cakes etc, or by collecting your junior child at the normal collection time and doing the same, or by encouraging your senior child to come along at the end of their school day to make some purchases or to simply make a donation.
• by making a cake or individual cakes for us to sell (these should be brought to school on Friday morning)
• by donating any unwanted Christmas gifts (these can be brought to the school office any time next week)
• by volunteering to help set up a stall at 2.30pm
• by volunteering to run a stall from 3-5pm (approx)
• by making a donation on the day or, if you cannot attend on the day, please place your donation in an envelope marked Mrs Fitch DEC Haiti – and handing it to the office. Cheques should be made payable to DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal
• by talking to your children about the disaster so they understand why our help is needed so urgently.
Friday 22nd Jan will be a non uniform day for all pupils who will be asked to donate a pound or more to the Haiti Earthquake appeal.
Thank you very much for your help in this matter.
