We are delighted with this year’s GCSE results. Year 11 have achieved the best results since 2008 with a 96.3% pass rate (5 or more A*-C grades). It is worthy of note that 89% of pupil not only gained 5 or more A*-C grades but that they did this including mathematics and English. In fact over 85% of the our pupils gained A*-C grades in eight or more subjects. We are also very pleased that A*/A grades accounted for over 28% of all grades and 64% of all exams achieved a B grade or higher.
The new "English baccalaureate" (EBac) is awarded to pupils who achieve GCSEs at grade C or above in English, mathematics, science, a foreign language, and history or geography. Nationally last year just 15.6% of pupils achieved the EBac. We are delighted that 63% of Saint Nicholas pupils will be awarded the EBac this year. Three pupils worthy of particular mention are Jess Jackson (6A*, 4A, and 1B), Emily Long (3A* and 8A) and Emily Collins (3A*,5A and 2B). We should also mention that Emily Long gained 100% in all four History modules; an outstanding achievement!
Having such outstanding grades is an indicator that we have a dedicated staff and pupils who have a positive attitude to work and are prepared to give all that it takes to be successful. We wish them all well in their future studies. We are all extremely proud of them.
We are delighted with the Year 6 SAT results this year. In English, mathematics and science the percentage of pupils who gained level 4 or higher were 93%, 100%, 100% respectively. Level 5 was achieved by 48%, 38% and 75% respectively in English, mathematics and science. Well done to all the Year 6 pupils and their teachers.
